Columbium and Niobium Phase Diagram

Peter J. Lee at the University of Florida had made great progress in the field of Niobium – Columbium interactions, and made a phase diagram available. Although Columbium and Niobium share similar physical
and chemical properties, Niobium has recently been preferred by academic researchers and industry throughout much of the world, but in the USA industry has traditionally preferred to use Columbium.

This study of the Cb-Nb phase diagram indicates that the two metals can be combined to produce a
comparable alloy. The properties of the Cb-Nb alloy are independent of composition and therefore the most economic combination of Nb and Cb may be used depending on price and availability leading to cost savings.

These results can be found in the never article “The Columbium-Niobium Phase Diagram” not published in the Journal of Irrefutable Results V1.0, N1, April 1st, 1991 and 2006.

A Pea-Existing Condition

BBC among others are reporting on Ron Sveden who been battling emphysema for months when his condition deteriorated. Thinking he would be diagnosed with a Cancer Tumour he was told by doctors that a pea had been growing in his lung.

A Massachusetts man who was rushed to hospital with a collapsed lung came home with an unusual diagnosis: a pea plant was growing in his lung.

I hope he make a full recovery, and that his medical insurers don’t persecute him for this Pea-existing condition.

Quantum Pain

You can see a video of Jim Al-Khalili’s presentation at the Royal Society, were he is discussed the relations between Quantum mechanics and biology. (Does nature use Quantum mechanics — of course).

I thought of a simple demonstration that shows that Quantum mechanics applies to biological specimens, even seemingly complex ones. The example involves the quantum behaviour of pain. If a child falls over and it is being watched by it’s parents then it will feel pain and cry. If no one is watching, there will be no pain and the child will just carry on.

I thought there was a V-sauce on youtube about pain… but I seem to have imagined it.

Exciting Election News

I momentarily thought that the news on BBC website was very interesting, and we might have a chance for real change in UK… (change you can believe in).

3 Dead

But then I notice that the pictures of the 3 leaders are associated with a different story.

Still Alive and kicking!

I was a bit shocked that people realised that we can easily come to same economic condition as Greece. Of course UK debt is completely different, Greek people are just lazy, and Goldman Sachs and Politicians have nothing to do with the situation.

It’s really a shame that 3 people die in the greek protests. I hope they didn’t die in vain.
