Brazilian Rainforest and Football Fields

When I was at school I was told a certain area of rainforest was cut down every day, the units chosen to describe this area was the football field, which is the default unit when trying to ‘engage the public’.

However it turns out the whole time that the rainforest was actually being cut down to make football fields.

Brazil is to host the 2014 world cup, for which they have made large investments in the stadia and transportation infrastructure. During the Fifa confederations cup many of the matches were met with protests over the government largesse.
